Hey Abdul, I checked out the picture in the link you included. I'm wondering, does the completed product have to look like the picture? Or are you trying to pump water for a home or other use? If you need it to run full speed all day like the photo suggests, then you will need a large Solar Array. But there are better ways to put together a solar powered water pumping arrangement. Most people that pump water with solar power do it one of two ways. One, they have a large solar array that powers their entire home, and the well is included. Since the well only runs for several minutes at a time and stores its excess water in a pressure tank, the array does not have to be large enough to power the pump by itself. The battery bank and inverter run the pump when it is called for, and the solar array simply works slowly to charge the battery bank back up. This is how our home is set up. The other way is to build up a DC slow pump designed for solar power direct. These type pumps are slow starting ,eliminating the need to oversize the array for the start up surge, and pump water slower, but continuously. This takes advantage of a solar array's ability to deliver smaller amounts of power all day.

The person considered the guru of these systems is Windy Dankoff. There are lots of vendors selling his products and other ones like it. Try googling, "Dankoff Solar Slowpumps," and check out several of the links. You can read how they work, and see if that is what you are looking for. Taking an existing 1HP pump and trying to build a solar array around it is probably not a good way to get much water for your money.

As a side note, solar panels have gotten much cheaper in the last 6 months, mainly do to a pulldown in the demand in the European Union. You can purchase 1000 watts of solar panels for about 3,000 USD today. There are some vendors selling new panels for as little as $2.68 per watt. You also don't need thousands of square feet of space. Our home is entirely powered by a 1.7 KW array, and it fits neatly on the space above our one car carport, taking up about 175 square feet of roof space.

So you have to decide what you really need your water pump to do, then do some research. I will include some links below for you. Good luck Abdul, and take care, Rudydoo
