What should be the temperature of water during periods of no sunlight using a solar / electric water heater?
We solar hot water, but during peak hours, the electric water heater kicks in. (two hours in the afternoon and 1.5 hours in the morning) the water is 140 degrees. Is this normal? I know that the thermostat can be rejected regular water heaters, but do we need this heat from solar energy? The water is very hot!
I think it should be rejected. They recommend a maximum of 125 to avoid burns. I've only worked on a few solar system but they all use a "regular" water heater to supplement heat and store the heated water. Were probed in a different way. Usually, they were established under and on all the time. Baja therefore not tried to heat the water passes through the solar panels. But it is almost impossible for us to say how yours is configured, the system logic. We do not know anything about how is probed, which controls, including how to operate normally. I do not know if you have two tanks or one tank and is for both storage and heating. The main reason people raise the temperature if the water is warmer than consume less. So at 140 you might get three showers early in the morning, but perhaps 125 ° only two, with no time between the heating water. I say try. I can not think of any reason to lower the temperature would be a problem, except for the ability as mentioned. Good luck.
